5 Small Steps to Become More Visible
Imagine this. You clear your entire weekend. You buy the camera, the lights, the microphones, the backdrop. You write a script and rehearse it twice. You press record, and fifteen seconds later your mind goes completely blank.
If you just winced, you are in very good company. That is exactly what happened to Raimonda Jankunaite, and she told us all about it on The Wealth We Hold, our podcast where we sit down with women to talk about community, entrepreneurship, and what wealth really means.
Raimonda is a speaker, visibility mentor, and founder of Women Thrive Media, a global platform that amplifies women’s voices, stories, and purpose. She leads a community of over 600,000 women in business, publishes the bestselling Women Thrive book series and magazine, and hosts global events, an annual virtual summit, and luxury retreats for women. Through her membership, The Spotlight, she helps women become confident, visible, and sought after speakers. Her message is simple: your voice is your superpower, and the world needs to hear it.
And yet there she was, frozen in front of a camera. We love that part of her story, because it reminds us that visibility isn't about being fearless. It's about being willing to start, even when it feels uncomfortable.. It is something you grow into. Here are five small steps from our conversation to help you start.
1. Put the Shopping Cart Down
We have all done it. You decide it is time to be seen, so you search for the best ring light, the best microphone, the best everything. It feels productive, and it feels safe.
Raimonda did the same thing, and the gear did not save her. What you need to be visible is far simpler: a message and a little willingness to share it. You already have both. So start with what is in your pocket, your phone, and the questions your clients keep asking you. Those questions are your content.
2. Talk to Nobody (Yes, Really)
If the camera makes your stomach drop, we have a favorite trick: record a voice note, and never send it to anyone.
Your phone is a wonderfully patient audience. It will not judge, interrupt, or ask you to redo it. Use it to practice saying your ideas out loud. Explain your service the way you would to a brand new client. Answer the question you get asked every single week. Soon you will notice something funny, which is that your words start sounding like you, and that is the whole point of a brand voice.
3. Go Live Before You Feel Polished
After her frozen weekend, Raimonda made a clever switch. Instead of fighting the camera to record perfect, polished courses, she started teaching live.
The beauty of live is that there is nothing to fix afterward. As she told us:
“You can’t edit yourself. You’re just gonna be you, and you can take it or leave it.”
People loved it. Her natural way of showing up became the very thing that set her apart.
So ask yourself where you have been chasing polished when real would do the job. A live session, a casual Q&A, or a quick behind the scenes message can build more trust than any perfectly edited video.
4. Don’t Climb the Whole Staircase at Once
Here is a picture we like to keep in mind. Visibility is a staircase, and no one is expected to leap to the top.
The first step is talking to yourself, out loud, with no one around. The next is sharing your ideas with a couple of people you trust. After that, you might answer questions on someone else’s podcast. Later comes stages, and maybe one day a book with your name on the cover. Each step makes the following one feel more doable, because you have already proven you can handle the last.
Raimonda is a perfect example. She told us hosting webinars used to make her nervous, and now it feels like second nature. Visibility works like a muscle, and the women who look so relaxed on stage simply put in their reps, one small step after another.
5. Keep Your Why Close
Let’s be honest about something: there will be days you do not feel like showing up. The doubt gets loud, the schedule gets full, and hiding sounds lovely.
That is when your reason matters most. When we asked Raimonda what she would say to a woman learning to use her voice, she did not hesitate:
“If you have a powerful enough why, you’ll get out of bed and you will keep walking, and you will keep going, and you’ll face those challenges.”
She also shared a little ritual. Before she records with a guest, she reminds them it is not about us. It is about the impact. That one thought can take the pressure off, because when you remember who you are showing up for, the nerves have a lot less to say.
So, What’s Your Next Step?
A lot of women were raised to stay small, to avoid being too much, and to keep quiet about what they do well. It is no wonder that being seen feels like a big deal. But a business that stays hidden cannot reach the women who are searching for it.
You do not have to be ready. You only have to pick the step closest to you. Maybe it is one voice note tonight. Maybe it is going live for ten minutes. Maybe it is finally saying yes to that invitation sitting in your inbox.
Small steps, taken again and again, build a voice that can fill a room.
